When it comes to grass there are a couple of sayings that ring true in my brain. For one, “people in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones”, and two, “Let him who is without guilt cast the first stone”.
Why do we think grass is illegal in the first place. I’ll give you two views from my perspective.
For one, grass represents one of the most popular mind-altering substances on the planet. As a result it literally is the back bone….ahem, cash cow…..of the Nancy Reagan “War on Drugs” and subsequent “drug fighting” industry and job pool consisting of tens of thousands of jobs and elite positions. Oh, and a lot of funding.
Secondly, if allowed to suddenly become ‘legal’, what happens to all those lives that have been ruined because of 15 year jail sentences for possession of a plant that the government of the day couldn’t collect tax revenue on for it’s sale? Where do they get their justice from?
I mean, sixteen year old kids can stroll into a pharmacy and purchase a month’s worth of toxic doctor-prescribed pain pills that are far more hazardous to his health than pot ever could be, so it seems logical that grass isn’t illegal to keep us safe. So why is grass illegal?
Unless you have never consumed alcohol, bought and/or consumed various high potency pharmaceuticals, smoked cigarettes or consumed tea or coffee……..stop talking about how bad herb is and pretending like you are so pure and “law-abiding”. Grass is a friggin’ plant for Christ’s sake. Most of the mouth pieces that denounce pot as some “gateway drug” or “devils plant” or otherwise equally evil label, have no problems drinking a half a dozen beers or cocktails and then getting behind the wheel to drive home after work to be with the family. They’ll sign up for some toxic mind-numbing back pain pill and drink a whiskey for added sleepiness effect, with no problems. They smoke a pack of toxic cigarettes every day. They also have no idea what the hell they are talking about.
Pot is not a “gateway drug”. Don’t ever let someone convince you that it is, regardless of much of an “expert” they think they are. Teachers and cops will talk until they are blue in the face about how evil pot is…….but they know from their own pasts or current habits that pot is not a devastating “gateway drug”…….no matter WHAT Nancy Reagan used to say. Hell, I skipped pot and went straight to cocaine. It wasn’t until years after that I discovered grass. Some “gateway drug”, huh?
Pot is one of those things that the government can no longer keep down. People know better and we demand better. Let’s focus on substances that actually kill and injure people and support each other with proper treatment and learning opportunity for people…..like, say with METH, and let folks smoke their herb in peace and quiet, shall we?
